Who is she?
Ms. Wilson learned the law the best way, by doing. After earning her undergraduate degree from Yale University, she went on to complete Vermont’s unique 4 year Law Office clerkship. She began her clerkship with the Essex County State’s Attorney’s office and then worked as a law clerk for Sleigh & Williams, and Jarvis, McArthur & Williams, two of Vermont’s most renowned and respected criminal defense and civil litigation law firms.
During her clerkship, Ms. Wilson acted as assistant in numerous criminal and civil trials and sentencing and evidentiary hearings. During her internship she represented clients at arraignments, status conferences, and bail hearings. She worked on countless personal injury cases, helping her firm reach settlements on behalf of those wrongfully injured. Ms. Wilson became skilled in legal research and writing and developed a no-nonsense but compassionate approach to evaluating cases.
[ba-pullquote align="left"]That government is, or ought to be, instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security of the people, nation, or community, and not for the particular emolument or advantage of any single person, family, or set of persons, who are a part only of that community. Article 7, Common Benefits Clause, Vermont Constitution [/ba-pullquote]
She has a particular interest in municipal law and employment discrimination/labor law. Ms. Wilson is a former Town Clerk and remains the elected Treasurer of her Vermont home town. She is also knowledgeable and interested in immigration law, contract disputes, estate planning and probate matters. In an era when attorneys increasingly focus on just one or two practice areas, Ms. Wilson recognizes that a good rural lawyer must be able to take on a broad range of cases, from defending a DUI to putting together an estate plan.
Ms. Wilson is admitted to practice in the state courts of Vermont as well as federal court for the District of Vermont.
